Q-zip

Singularity editing of a quadrangle mesh consists in shifting singularities around for either improving the quality elements or canceling extraneous singularities, so as to increase regularity. However, particular structure quad renders exploration allowable connectivity changes non-local and hard automate. In this paper, we introduce simple, principled, general quad-mesh primitive with which pairs arbitrarily distant can be efficiently displaced through deterministic reversible chain local topological operations minimal footprint. Dubbed Q-zip it acts zipper opening up collapsing down strips, our practical operator singularity easily implemented via parallel transport reference compass between any two irregular vertices. Batches Q-zips performed then used efficient editing.
